WE RECEIVED OUR FIRST BAD REVIEW

Let’s start with a little shameless flex.

Across Google, Facebook, Capterra and Trustpilot, we’ve collected well over 100 reviews, with the overwhelming majority sitting proudly at 4 stars and above. Not bad, if we do say so ourselves.

Then it happened.

Our first 1-star review landed.

Not only that, but it was followed by four more 1-star reviews from people connected to the same company. It was a bit like watching someone turn up to a football match with their own cheering section, except in reverse.

Now, before anyone gets excited, this isn’t going to be one of those blog posts where we spend 2,000 words arguing with the reviewer. We could dispute some of the points. We could explain our side. We could dissect every detail.

But honestly?

We can’t be bothered.

The reality is that when you run a business, not everyone you deal with is going to love your service. Sometimes you’ll do everything you can, and people will still walk away unhappy. Whether you agree with their opinion or not, they’re entitled to it, and we respect that.

Of course, we’d always prefer to resolve issues. If a client isn’t satisfied, we’ll do our best to find a solution. That’s just good business. But there’s also a line.

If someone doesn’t want the solution you’re offering, don’t feel pressured to abandon your company’s values, standards or ethos just to appease one unhappy customer. Changing who you are as a business because of one bad apple rarely ends well.

In fact, we’d encourage other business owners not to fear bad reviews.

Welcome them.

They remind you that you’re dealing with real people. They show potential customers that your reviews are genuine. And strangely enough, they often make your positive reviews look even more credible.

Nobody trusts perfection anyway.

So yes, we received our first bad review. Then a few of its friends arrived shortly afterwards.

And we’re still here.

Still serving our clients. Still improving. Still collecting positive feedback from the businesses that value what we do.

You probably haven’t even seen the review in question, but we don’t hide from anything. It’s there for everyone to read.

Besides, we needed something to write a blog about.

Thanks for the content.
